GENERALIZED BEAMS AND CONTINUA FOR DYNAMICS OF PERIODIC RETICULATED SYSTEMS
Tipo de evento: Seminário LNCC
This study focus on the appropriate generalized beams and continua describing the effective dynamics of periodic reticulated materials or structures. Assuming the cell size is small compared to the wavelength, the homogenization method of discrete media is applied to identify the macro-behavior at the leading order. The analysis is performed on unbraced framed cells that may present a high contrast between shear and compression deformability (conversely to massive media). This open the possibility of enriched local kinematics involving global rotation and inner deformation. Four beam-like behaviors of 1D structures are established by varying the properties of the cell elements, and thus the order of magnitude of shear force, bending and inner moments. A Generic beam, governed by a differential equation of sixth degree, includes all mechanisms. Extended to reticulated materials, this study highlights analogies with generalized continua and enables the conditions of a Cauchy or generalized media behavior at the leading order (Cosserat or inner deformation) to be identified. Finally, comparisons of these theoretical results with numerical modelling and experiments on regular buildings are satisfactory.
